Fall Off The Bone Ribs
Fall Off The Bone Ribs
Ingredients
For the Ribs:
- 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4-5 pounds total)
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard (optional, as a binder for the rub)
For the Dry Rub:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
For the BBQ Sauce (optional, you can use store-bought):
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Ribs:
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under the membrane and then pulling it off with your fingers or using a paper towel to grip it.
- Apply the Dry Rub:
- If using mustard as a binder, rub a thin layer of mustard on both sides of the ribs.
- In a bowl, mix all the dry rub ingredients together. Generously apply the dry rub to both sides of the ribs, pressing it into the meat.
- Cook the Ribs:
- Wrap each rack of ribs tightly in aluminum foil, making sure they are completely sealed to trap the steam inside.
- Place the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are very tender.
- Prepare the BBQ Sauce (if making homemade):
- While the ribs are cooking, combine all BBQ sauce ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 15-20 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Finish the Ribs:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat your oven broiler.
- Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and unwrap them from the foil. Brush both sides of the ribs with the BBQ sauce.
- Place the ribs on the grill (or on a baking sheet under the broiler) and cook for about 5-10 minutes, basting with more BBQ sauce and turning occasionally, until the sauce is caramelized and the ribs have a slight char.
- Serve:
- Remove the ribs from the grill or broiler and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Cut the ribs between the bones, serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired, and enjoy the tender, fall off the bone goodness!
These ribs are perfect for a backyard BBQ or a cozy family dinner. Enjoy!
