Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 1/2 cups (450g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Filling:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs (such as basil, oregano, and thyme)

- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and warm milk. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until the dough comes together. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, melted butter, garlic powder, and dried Italian herbs. Mix well.
- Shape and Fill the Dough:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a large rectangle, about 1/2-inch thick.
