Butter Garlic Steak Bites and Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 1/2 pounds (680g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons (55g) unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 pounds (900g) Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons (55g) unsalted butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
  • Place the peeled and cut potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.
  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • While the potatoes are boiling, heat the milk, cream, and butter in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm. Do not let it boil.
  • Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes until smooth, then gradually add the warm milk mixture, mashing and stirring until the potatoes are creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Keep warm.
  1. Prepare the Steak Bites:
  • Season the steak pieces with salt and black pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until melted and foamy.
  • Add the steak pieces in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan). Sear the steak bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat them in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to heat through.
  1. Serve:
  • Divide the creamy mashed potatoes among serving plates.
  • Top with the butter garlic steak bites, drizzling any remaining garlic butter sauce from the skillet over the steak bites.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Enjoy your Butter Garlic Steak Bites and Creamy Mashed Potatoes! This dish combines tender, flavorful steak bites with rich and creamy mashed potatoes for a comforting and satisfying meal.
